Imbroglio

Short film news on the horizon!

Over the last few weeks we have been filming a short(ish) project titled ‘Imbroglio’. The story chronicles the plight of Claire, who, hexed with a spate of increasingly nightmarish reveries and headaches, must seek help in banishing the malevolent phantoms sent to claim her soul. We’d describe this one as a neurotic horror fantasy, embroidered with dreamy sequences and daft performances, and tongue firmly in cheek. Think Carnival of Souls comes to the East Midlands to spend a weekend with The Entity.

Visually channelling classic Gothic cinema — we’ve tried to emulate Dreyer, Murnau, The Night of the Hunter, Sunset Boulevard, Night Tide et al with this one, with admittedly bog standard albeit fun results — ‘Imbroglio’ rounds off a trilogy of shorts filmed on the Tyco toy video camera. Hopefully a bit creepy, a bit mad, a bit musical and laden with ridiculous characters and dialogue!

Starring Ursula Peleck, Jacqui Turrell, Simon Morgan, Francesca Way and a host of other friends and family.
